Junior Sport Jujitsu Competition - Leeds

The date November 30th 2003, the venue St. Bartholomews School Armley Leeds. The competition junior Sport Jujitsu Once again we were up and away when most normal people were tucked up in their nice warm beds and, once again, the journey was well worth the effort. I must say that of all the competitions I've attended, this had to be the best for atmosphere and 'team spirit.' We had a number of parents accompanying us this time and, as far as I'm concerned, they made all the difference! We are always going to have fighters capable of winning medals, because they train hard and are trained well, what we lack most of the time is support so it was marvellous to see the parents cheering on the fighters along with those fighters unlucky enough to lose early in the day. The medal winners are listed below, but before we get to them here's a few observations on individual performances..... James The 'Jimmy White' of Sport Jujitsu. I'm at a loss to know why James has yet to win a medal. He narrowly missed out at Robertown and his performance at this competition was no less gutsy and deserved so much more. It was a pleasure to watch his performance. Abigail One of our first competitors to fight and she lost. Now, she could have said to her mum come on, let's go home. Instead she remained to the end, cheering on her fellow competitors - that's what team spirit is all about. Ashley Ash the bash, I knew he'd win a medal. He had a couple of gruelling fights but the classic moment came during one of his bouts when his Dad shouted: 'Come on Ashley,' With a look of total disdain Ashley shouted back 'that he was!'....ho hum well, I thought it was funny. Congratulations to all the fighters who took part, not just the medal winners and a huge thanks to the parents, your darling progeny probably wouldn't admit it, but they were proud to have you there......
