More Sport Jujitsu Success - March 11th!

It's a few weeks late but here it is. The club had 25 fighters for the latest round of it's Sport Jujitsu adventure, the largest squad to date. By the end of the day we'd won eleven medals, a great testament to Sensei Cowan's training and the fighters hard work. A perfect day then?

Not quite.

Earlier in the afternoon Claire 'tiger' Harrington was knocked unconscious during her bout . I accompanied her on the trip to Doncaster hospital and so missed most of the action. She made a quick recovery though and within a couple of hours she was discharged. What was the first thing she said on our return to the sports centre? "Sensie, when's the next competition?"

Claire is indicative of the club's enthusiasm and spirit at these events. It was the first time for many of our fighters and though they were obviously nervous every single one of them did themselves and the club proud. "We just keep getting better," Sensei Cowan said. "With so many students wanting to compete we may need to hire a bus next time."

Unfortunately I'm unable to report on many of the fights, so It would be unfair of me to report on the individuals I saw, at the expense of those I missed while at the hospital with Claire.

A couple of special mentions though. Well done to the students who supported each other mat side during my absence. With Sensei Cowan tied up with the judging, Pete Flyn was left on his own to cover the mats, so well done everyone!

And lastly, a special well done to the girl fighters. We had 5 for this competition, including the unlucky Claire. Any more like to try for the next competition?

Below is a list of all those who competed with their weight categories.

Apologies if I spell anyone's name wrong let me know and I'll correct it.
