On Sunday 9th July Beechwood infant school had their summer fete. Typically, the weather cocked up everything ensuring that most of the days entertainment, including the Jujitsu display, occured indoors.
This is the first time that the Beechwood Junior School branch of the club has performed at the infants and they were a great success. Ably assisted by Andrew Morey and John Dykes under the watchful eye of sensei Bob Cowan the children put on a flawless demonstration. Emily Morey, who performed a series of techniques on her twin brother Ian, was particularly outstanding performing her routine with such panache and vigour that Sensei Cowan asked her to repeat all the techniques for the benefit of the audience. |

| "The kids were all great," said Bob. "I had nothing to do except sheperd the individual students on to the mat to perform their pieces. They were a credit to the club, their school and themselves."
Displays by the club have always been popular at these events. |

| Beechwood Junior School Jujitsu club is probably the only martial arts club in Luton & Dunstable which takes place during normal school hours. If anyone out there knows of any other martial arts clubs that operate in a similar manner I'd like to know.
Just for the record the fete raised over £1000 which will go towards Beechwood schools Millennium Playground Fun |
